1 Northern Pygmy Owl By: Finn and Korsen.

2 Name and Description of Bird
We did our report on the Northern Pygmy Owl. Another name for the Northern Pygmy Owl is Glaucidium gnoma The Northern Pygmy Owl is a small brown owl with a long tail and a chubby body with a small head; It also has a white splotch on his chest. Fact: The female Pygmy Owls are tanner then the males, with a orange beak. The males are bigger and are grayer.

3 Preferred Habitat and Range
It lives mainly on the West coast of North America and does not migrate. The main living areas are Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia. They live most commonly in the East Cascades.

4 Feeding and Nesting habitats
The Northern Pygmy Owl nests mainly in tree cavities and old woodpecker holes. They do not build on to the trees, meaning they do not build their own nests. This owl feeds on small rodents, insects, and small birds such as humming birds.

5 Human and Natural Threats
The disappearance of their prey will likely cut down on the population of the Northern Pygmy Owl. (Threats humans, bigger birds, wildfires, climate change, and snakes.)

6 Steps people can do to help
People can help by cutting down less trees and not killing woodpeckers or their prey.

7 Personal Connection Finn- I was visiting my grandparents in Connecticut. I was outside in the night when I saw a tiny owl eating a sandwich that I had dropped earlier that day. Korsen- I was riding my bike when I saw an owl flying to get its prey
