VIGILANCE Keeping a watchful eye on the activities of the organizations’ personnel and taking prompt action to promote ethical practices and ensure integrity and honesty in the official transactions.

WHY VIGILANCE? There are individuals who indulge in unethical activities of getting personal gains at the cost of the organization. Such persons infect others, leading to wastes and economic losses. Their acts damage the image and goodwill of the organization. Hence, to rein such persons, mis-endeavours and promote organizational interest, vigilance is required.

VIGILANCE ANGLE Demanding and/or accepting gratification for an official act or influencing any other official Obtaining a valuable thing without consideration/inadequate consideration from someone with whom he/his subordinates have official dealing Pecuniary advantage by corrupt and illegal means Gross or willful neglect

VIGILANCE ANGLE Misappropriation, forgery, cheating or other criminal offence Assets disproportionate to known sources of income Recklessness in decision making Blatant violation of systems and procedures Use of discretion in excess without any public purpose being evident

VIGILANCE ANGLE Failure to keep controlling authority/ superiors informed in time Undue delay Other irregularities in tenders or execution of work casting doubt on integrity.

Ethical Practices Don’t do anything, unbecoming of yourself as an employee. Be updated with relevant rules, regularities and procedures. Don’t be biased. Don’t misuse official position for self gain. Don’t be indecisive. Be fair and transparent in official dealings.

CONCLUSION Vigilance is not a hostile outsider. It is an essential part of the management. It helps to improve managerial and financial practices and working procedure. Every officer is vigilance officer. It assists in better performance and greater customer satisfaction. Knowledge without integrity is dangerous and dreadful.
