Hunger – “peinao ” which means “pinching toil” long painful strenuous
fatiguing labor

Thirst – “dipsao” which means to thirst for

Hunger and Thirst are both expressive of
strong desire.

Spiritual hunger an intense desire and longing for Christ’s righteousness.

Comparing Physical Hunger and Spiritual Hunger
1. Automatic 1. Must be cultivated 2. No food we automatically become hungry 2. No spiritual food does not lead to spiritual hunger but spiritual stagnation 3. The more we eat we get satisfied 3. Daily prayer + reading God’s word spiritual hunger intensifies

What is righteousness? “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you.” Matthew 6:33

Righteousness – “dikaiosune”
the character or quality of being right or just whatever conforms to the revealed will of God as an attribute of God, it is united with His Holiness as being essential in His nature

Conclusion No one is righteous. Righteousness is through faith.
