SMBG helps you to decide about your insulin dose. SMBG will let you know the impact of diet on your BG SMBG tells you if the exercise helped you to reduce BG SMBG shows patterns of glycemia: Which time of day is not under control

Sites include forearm, thigh and palm Less painful due to less nerve supply No difference in blood glucose between fingerstick and alternative sites If hypoglycemia suspected, use fingerstick for testing
