Description: An article that presents a group’s opinion on an issue. Editorial writers build on an argument already made and try to persuade readers to agree with them on a current issue. Editorial is an opinion article with a side of news.

Method: Pick your topic and angle. Get your facts straight. (List 4-5 facts) Keep it user friendly. ( words) Start with a thesis statement. (One sentence that carries the summary of your stand)

Method: 5. Present one side of the argument 6. Present your reasons and evidences to refute the opposing side. 7. Make your solution known. 8. Give a strong conclusion. 9. Proof read your work. 10. Share it.

Editorial Staff Editor-in-chief (EIC): Responsible for the overall contents and appearance of the school paper. Does the final editing work. Implements editorial policies. Assigns/delegates tasks to the staff. The head of the school paper. Coordinates closely with the Advisers. Associate Editor: Assists the EIC. Performs tasks of the EIC when he/she is absent. Coordinates with the rest of the staff.

Editorial Staff Literary editor: Responsible for the contents of the literary pages and feature articles. Edits the articles, poems, and other literary material in the school paper in coordination with the EIC and literary adviser. Layout/Design Artist: Responsible for the overall design of the school paper, graphics, and layout of texts, drawings, and photos in coordination with the EIC and Technical Adviser.

Editorial Staff News Editor: Edits, gathers, and/or writes the straight news in coordination with the EIC. Photo editor: Responsible for the photographs that will be used in the school paper. Coordinates with all the photographers, and the EIC. Photographer/s: In coordination with the Photo editor, provides quality pictures for publication.

Editorial Staff Reporters: Responsible for gathering the facts of the news. May or may not write the news report. Coordinates closely with the news editor and/or EIC. Literary writers/Columnists: Responsible for writing poems, stories, etc. for publication regularly or seasonal, coordinates with lit. ed. and EIC.

Editorial Staff Artists/cartoonists: In coordination with the EIC provides the editorial cartoon, and other artistic sketches. Editorial Assistants: May perform any of the tasks assigned by the editors and EIC. They may serve as researchers, errand members of the staff, writers, encoders, reporters, surveyors, etc.

Editorial Staff Advertising managers: Responsible for promoting the paper to the community for advertisements, management of the budget for printing, and other materials. Works closely with the financial adviser.

School Paper Essentials
Editorial Policy: These are the guideline on the production of the School papers. They are written in Articles and Sections. Guidelines on the following are needed: Name of the school paper and titles of the sections Number of pages, parts or sections of the paper Size and orientation Frequency of issues and number of copies Number of staff members and their duties; start and end of duties Number of advisers and duties Procedures Sanctions for violations Financial matters including incentives of staff members and publisher
