Course Levels Academic Applied Locally Developed Open Course Options
Focus on essential concepts and development of knowledge and skills through practical applications and concrete examples. Prepares students for grade 11 & 12 courses at the university/college or college levels. Focus on development of knowledge and skills through theory and abstract thinking as a basis for future learning and problem-solving. Prepares students for grade 11 & 12 courses at the university, university/college and college levels. Locally Developed Open Designed to broaden students’ knowledge and skills in subjects that reflect their interests. Courses do not have specific requirements and prepare students for active participation in society. Courses that are developed locally to meet educational and career preparation needs of students. Prepares students for grade 11& 12 workplace courses. Only available in Math at MPC.

Enhanced Literacy & Numeracy Program
Student Support Enhanced Literacy & Numeracy Program Who? What? students whose IEP indicates that they are working below grade expectations students who would benefit from more practice in these subjects before entering the academic level Literacy and/or Numeracy course in first semester that assists students in preparing for Academic English or Math in second semester Full year of English and/or Math courses instead of a single semester Why? How? Small class size One full credit Focused curriculum that provides the foundation for success in the corresponding academic course Select “Academic Bridging” on course selection sheet for the desired Math and/or English courses. Select one to two fewer elective courses. A Guidance Counsellor is available to discuss timetable options for students interested in this program.

Important Dates Optional Attendance January 31st at 4 pm – Deadline for Optional Attendance forms to be received at Monarch Park Collegiate in person. February 14th – Deadline for parent(s)/guardian(s) to be informed of the status of their application requests. Students accepted through optional attendance will receive an on this day. February 28th – Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and students must confirm the offer of admission by submitting a course selection sheet to Monarch Park Collegiate in person.
