2 Objectives Children will discover a variety of shapes in trees.
Children will observe differences and similarities in trees. Children will observe differences in trees in spring, summer winter and fall.

3 Getting Started Trees do not have regular shapes but the
shapes which children are familiar with are: Triangular Round Rectangular Umbrella

4 Round or Circle What shape is this tree?
Close your eyes, can you see the outline in your mind?

5 Rectangle What shape is this tree?
Close your eyes, can you see the outline in your mind?

6 Triangle What Shape is this tree?
Close your eyes, can you see the outline in your mind?

7 Umbrella What shape is this tree?
Close your eyes, can you see the outline in your mind?

8 What do you notice? Are these shapes similar? Which is the shortest?
Which is the tallest?

9 What do you notice? What shape do you see in the middle of this picture? What other shapes do you see?

10 Review Have you seen this shape before? Do you remember what it is?

11 Review Do you remember the shape of this tree?
Draw a tree shaped like a circle on your paper.

12 Review Look at this tree carefully. See the two long sides and the two short sides. What shape did we say this was?

13 Review Do you remember what shape this tree is?
Now lets name the tree shapes we have learned today.

16 What shape am I? Umbrella

17 What shape am I? Rectangle

18 What shape am I? Oval
