NEISD Accelerated Instruction Plan (AIP) Guidelines
Districts are required to provide accelerated instruction to any student who: fail a STAAR assessment is being considered for retention or retained exhibits academic difficulties is at-risk of dropping out of school exhibits behavior difficulties is not likely to receive a high school diploma before the fifth school year after enrollment in grade nine The type of accelerated instruction is a local decision that should be based on individual student needs.
6
NEISD Accelerated Instruction Plan (AIP) Guidelines
Students who did not meet the passing standard on any state assessment grades 3-8 and high school will be identified in Eduphoria Aware and/or the online RTI Documentation Management System Teachers may identify other students who need an AIP which is the first step in the Response to Intervention (RtI) process (Tier 1) This includes students: in credit recovery/course recovery students in K-5 with identified reading and math difficulties using MAP data (Kindergarten students after testing in January) Pre-K students with identified reading difficulties using Circle data (after testing in January) students with behavior issues that hinder learning, etc.

AIP Process NEISD Policy and Procedure Guidelines
Process 1 Analyze Data Process 2 Create AIP in AWARE Process 3 Consideration for students with specialized plan Monitor/Update Tier 1: quarterly Tier 2: 6 weeks NEISD Policy and Procedure Guidelines
8
Accelerated Instruction Plan (AIP)
Teacher and campus leadership will monitor student progress throughout the year AIPs for STAAR failures will begin in September and updated quarterly AIPs will be concluded in the last week of school
9
AIP and RTI – WHEN!!! the AIP is the 1st step when we identity struggling learners (create form in aware and monitor) Students in tier 2, 3: Intervention plan is the AIP All students fall into Tier 1. When you notice students who are struggling academically or behaviorally monitor them closely and document this on the AIP in AWARE. Students who continue to struggle based on data review are referred to the RtI online Documentation management system where tier 2 data gathering begins. RtI Committee will review data and create an intervention plan which also serves as the student’s AIP.
10
Analyze Student Data Tier 1
Look for trends Strengths and Weaknesses One or more areas of critical need Places for look for data Classroom assessments Informal assessment Benchmark results Grades Other teachers who work with student Checklists Work samples Fountas and Pinnell MAP scores
11
STEPS for Tier 1 Try strategies for 2 weeks
Change the strategy and document Try the new strategy for 2 weeks Adapt assignments Allow differentiated ways to show mastery (poster, verbal, etc.) Chunk assignments Extra time Small groups Graphic organizers Peer partner Varied texts
12
RTI Tier 2 Steps for Tier 2 In Launchpad, you will log into employee portal. Click on RtI on the right side and add a students Document management system The system will prompt for data collection Teachers, nurse, and counselor must complete the forms Teacher meeting will occur to determine student moving to Tier 2 Hold a meeting to determine a Tier 2 intervention Set a measurable goal about a skill to improve Monitor the goal with data through the Employee Portal

What if a student has an IEP?
AIP STAAR Results IEP
14
Let’s dig in Analyze student data/IEP
Does the current IEP address the critical area of need identified from the STAAR results? Does any changes need to be made? Goals? Accommodations? Services?
15
Addressing the AIP in the ARD
The ARD document has a specific section for addressing state assessments and the accelerated instruction plan Attach the AIP form to the ARD document and upload into eSped Monitor and update AIP in Aware quarterly

Guidelines for AIP Implementation
Guideline Chart Guidelines for AIP Implementation Current Status Teacher/Campus Will: Student failed STAAR and is currently in Special Education Follow guidelines provided in AIP memo from Gerard Cortez Create an AIP Student failed STAAR, is at-risk of dropping out, or exhibits academic difficulties and is currently in the RtI system Continue/initiate the process through the RtI Document Management System in the Employee Portal Once the process is initiated, the document management system will guide the teacher through next steps and gather all documentation needed Create an AIP in area of need Continue to document supports provided and progress made through the RtI Document Management System All other students who failed STAAR, are at-risk of dropping out, exhibiting academic difficulties, will be retained, or behavior problems Tier II (Additional examples: credit recovery,Pre-K-5 students reading and math difficulties) Attach the Accelerated Instruction Plan (AIP) for (PreK-12) under the Forms tab of the student profile in Eduphoria Aware Use the form to document student needs, focus skills, instructional support strategies provided, intensity, frequency, duration, and progress Revisit the form as needed to update progress If at any time, the teacher/campus feels this student needs to start the RtI process, they can download the AIP and attach it in the RtI Document Management System for documentation of support provided and progress made (not appropriate for current special education students)

Accelerated Instruction Plan (AIP)
Teachers will be able to identify their students that require an AIP in Eduphoria Aware on the “Analyze” tab by clicking on “My Student Groups” and choosing either: Elementary Accelerated Instruction Plan Students for all subjects Accelerated Instruction Plan Students for secondary by subjects
