Grading Analysis: 70% Clear thesis supported with evidence
Uses formal analysis effectively- for every claim made, visual evidence is cited Uses historical context effectively- the work’s historical context is employed to further the argument. Historical context (including identification of figures and scenes) is correct All evidence is used to support an argument- if an observation is made, its importance is explained Structure and Formatting: 10% Organization: introduction, paragraphs with topic sentences and concluding sentences, conclusion Formal Writing: doesn’t use “I” statements, uses academic writing Cites sources properly, if appropriate Pages are numbered, with your name on each page Longer papers should have a title Paper meets but does not exceed length requirements (while structure and formatting is only worth 10% of the total grade, if you write only half a page for a page long requirement, you have likely not met the expectations in terms of crafting a clear and effective argument) Art Historical Vocabulary: 20% Art historical vocabulary is used correctly and appropriately
