Core Skills Advanced Skills The main rules Start and restart of play - A throw off is taken at the centre of the playing area to start the game and after a goal has been scored. Walking– if a player takes more than 3 steps without dribbling, shooting or passing 6m line- no player (other than keeper) is allowed n the goal area Passive play- if a team is making no attempting to score the ball is awarded to the opposing team Catching- with two hands from a range of heights Catching- from the front and side Passing- stationary Dribbling- with dominant hand Shooting- while stationary Dribbling – using both/ either hand Catching- with one hand at a variety of heights Regulations Components of fitness for football Cardiovascular endurance – so you can last the full game without tiring Speed – so you can beat an opponent to the ball Agility – so you can quickly dribble around other players Reaction time – so you can react and get to the ball before your opponent / save the ball Muscular endurance – so your muscles do not tire throughout the game Key vocabulary Dominant – your strongest hand Dribbling – walking / running with the ball bouncing Shooting – throwing the ball to score a goal Passing – throwing the ball to a team mate Opponent – a player who you are playing against Walking- taking more than 3 steps while holding the ball Playing area – the pitch is divided into two by a half way line. Number of players – maximum numbers per team 7 v 7, including the goalkeeper.
