There is no such thing as ADA CERP credit for attending a continuing education course.
CERP does not accredit individual activities.
CERP recognizes providers of continuing dental education (CDE) activities.
CERP also does not offer continuing education credit.

3. What is CERP?
CERP stands for the Continuing Education Recognition Program.
The Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition (CCEPR) as an agency of the ADA recognizes providers of continuing dental education (CDE), not individual programs and activities.
CCEPR has the authority to formulate and adopt requirements, guidelines and procedures for the recognition of continuing dental education providers, and to approve providers of continuing dental education programs and activities. The Commission is structured to include broad input from those dental groups with an interest in continuing dental education at the policy-setting level.

4. Why is this important?
Recognition provides assurances to the public and governmental agencies (i.e., state licensing boards) that continuing education activities meet or exceed established standards for providing high quality educational experiences.

5. What are these “standards”?
Courses must have a sound scientific basis.
Learner centered educational objectives and goals are stated.
Courses are free from commercial bias.
A learning assessment or course evaluation completed by participants.

6. The Extended Approval Process
CERP allows its recognized providers to extend their approval to constituent or component societies.
The AAPD acts as the “approver” for the local CDE provider.

However, strictly speaking, through the EAP, AAPD acts as the approver of a local CE provider, based on a review of that provider's policies and procedures for planning CE activities. (Also suggest using the term "activty" as an alternative to "Course" occasionall

9. Recognition Statement for Publicity Materials
Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider through the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry.
