OVERVIEW: On 05 OCT 2019, the University of Colorado NROTC Battalion will conduct a Casualty Evacuation and Leadership Reaction Course evolution. The unit will utilize the Jack’s Valley LRC compound for the LRC events, and utilize surrounding terrain and area to conduct CASEVAC/Scenario training.
EVENT OIC INTENT:
The goal of the OIC is to provide tangible, realistic scenarios and training that challenge Midshipmen to think on their feet, complete tasks, and most importantly, work as a team to do so. It is also the goal to provide specific, measurable, and consistent grading and feedback to Midshipmen in completing these scenarios. The on-site LRC has available grading rubrics for use. For the CASEVAC, rubrics will need to be generated in order to measure and objectively score the groups. The group will be graded based on time spent briefing, time spent on evolution, and number of objectives completed. The staff will also look for, and debrief the group on any “sustains”, and/or “improves”.
KEY OBJECTIVE:
The battalion will conduct an LRC and CASEVAC in order to attain training for professional core competencies, confidence, teamwork, and it will provide a building block for the rest of the semester. The scenarios are designed to place Midshipmen under pressure, and to not succumb to “Tunnel Vision” in leading others.
PRIMARY/SECONDARY TRAINING AUDIENCE:
New 3/C Midshipmen are the primary training audience and focus of the event. Upper class Midshipmen are the second focus, both in working with the team, providing leadership when necessary, and filling proctor/instructor roles.

7. EXAMPLE TRAINING OBJECTIVES / ENDSTATE
The LRC will enable 3/C Midshipman to lead a squad sized element through varied scenarios and challenges. This will serve to give rising Midshipmen an opportunity to lead an element as a billet holder for one of their first examples of leadership.
Upper Class Midshipmen will gain experience as both squad personnel, and holding proctor/instructor level billets.
