This is because most students don’t know HOW to answer the question or WHAT your exam board mean by structure, not because it is a hard question. This text is from the beginning of a short story. How is the text structured to interest you as a reader? You could write about:  what the writer focuses your attention on at the beginning of the source how and why the writer changes this focus as the source develops any other structural features that interest you. This text is from the beginning of a short story. How is the text structured to interest you as a reader? You could write about:  what the writer focuses your attention on at the beginning of the source ie what is happening at the beginning and what is the mood? how and why the writer changes this focus as the source develops ie where does the text shift/change? This could be change of setting, move from inside to outside, move from focus on one character to another, move from past to present, zoom from the big picture to a specific detail etc etc any other structural features that interest you. You should replace this vague instruction with: what happens at the end, and what is the mood? Is this different or the same as the beginning? What is the effect of the difference or similarity?
