WHAT ARE SEMI-PERMEABLE MEMBRANE DEVICES (SPMDs)? SPMDs are passive sampling devices that simulate the adipose tissues of animals. They detect the potential of pollutants in the environment to bioaccumulate in living tissue, even at trace levels. WHAT CONTAMINANTS CAN BE DETECTED USING SPMDs?
