4 What Operation Homefront Does: Our Programs
Operation Homefront addresses the problems of homelessness and financial instability for families of active duty, wounded and veterans, through three core program focus areas: Relief through Short-Term and Critical Assistance Programs Emergency Financial Assistance Rent-free Transitional Housing Villages for wounded warriors Resiliency through Long-Term Stability Programs: Mortgage-Free Homes (Homes on the Homefront) Caregiver Support (Hearts of Valor) Recurring Family Support through ongoing programs like: Holiday Meals for Military Back to School Brigade Holiday Toy Drives Homefront Celebrations Star-Spangled Baby Showers Military Child of the Year

5 BACK-TO-SCHOOL BRIGADE

6 Program Overview Operation Homefront is gearing up for its 2018 Back-to-School Brigade™ program to provide backpacks full of school supplies to local military kids in need. Last year, nearly 33,454 backpacks were distributed, along with over $5.6 million school supplies collected at Dollar Tree stores nationwide. $682.13 The average amount spent on back-to-school apparel, school supplies and electronics per family According to

7 Program Overview Nationwide, there are 1.2 million children of active duty service members. The number of American children who have experienced a parent’s deployment is estimated to be close to 2 million – from newborns to teens. About 33% of military children are between the ages of 6 and 11, 25% are between the ages of 12 and 18. 33,454 Backpacks distributed across the country through Back-to-School Brigade™
