6 So what can we do to help our children

7 Teach Time Management and Organizational Skills
Children learn what they see. Help your child to be organized. Post a calendar Use a weekly planner Make a to do list Teach Time Management and Organizational Skills

8 Teach Self Sufficiency
The more kids do for themselves, the more confident they will be when dealing with new and difficult situations Teach household responsibilities/chores Teach Self Sufficiency

9 Encourage Independence at School
Kids need to be responsible for their assignments and due dates {with our help in the beginning} They need to talk to the teacher about difficult situations. Your job is not to fight your children’s battles, your job is to teach them how to advocate for themselves Encourage Independence at School

10 Teach them that they have a voice
Most adults are afraid of speaking in front of a group. But it is vital in order to be successful My role at the assessment center My grandson and the weather Teach them that they have a voice

11 What are you teaching your children
Self esteem…….accomplishments and effort not trophies for everyone Independence…..what can I do on my own Fear…..Airplanes Anxiety…..Somebody is going to steal us What are you teaching your children

13 Remember every story has two sides.
When our kids come home with tales of woe, we need to keep in mind that we are hearing only one perspective. Before forming an opinion, get all the facts. Did the teacher really give only one day's notice for a 10-page essay? Did the coach actually keep your child out of the game for no reason? Parents who know the facts can effectively help their children learn to respond to disappointing or difficult life scenarios. Remember every story has two sides.

14 Teach your children self respect
When people feel good about themselves, they are able to stand up for themselves. Focus on helping your child develop good decision- making skills and solid self-esteem. Praise a job well done, and emphasize positive character traits. A confident child will not be afraid to speak up. Let talk about bullying Teach your children self respect

16 But no matter how smart , big or massive your vocabulary is, if you don’t care about people, show respect, have compassion, deal with conflict and know how to deal with difficult situations. You will have trouble in life.
