July 2003 doc.: IEEE /607r0 July 2003 Fixes for IBSS Patrick Worfolk (Kiwi Networks) TGk July 2003 Worfolk, Kiwi Networks Worfolk, Kiwi Networks

2 July 2003 Introduction IBSS networks were not considered in a number of places in the TGk 0.4 draft This document identifies 8 such places and the minor edits required to correct these omissions Worfolk, Kiwi Networks

3 Channel Load Request (7.3.2.19.3)
July 2003 Channel Load Request ( ) Channel number description currently reads: Channel Number indicates the channel number on which the AP instructs the receiving STA to issue a Channel Load Report. To fix for an IBSS, modify to: Channel Number indicates the channel number on which the requesting STA instructs the receiving STA to issue a Channel Load Report. Worfolk, Kiwi Networks

4 Noise Histogram Request (7.3.2.19.4)
July 2003 Noise Histogram Request ( ) Channel number description currently reads: Channel Number indicates the channel number on which the AP instructs the receiving STA to report background RF energy and non interference on the specified channel . To fix for an IBSS, modify to: Channel Number indicates the channel number on which the requesting STA instructs the receiving STA to report background RF energy and non interference on the specified channel . Worfolk, Kiwi Networks

5 July 2003 Hidden Node Request ( ) Channel number description currently reads: Channel Number indicates the channel number on which the AP instructs the receiving STA to report hidden nodes. To fix for an IBSS, modify to: Channel Number indicates the channel number on which the requesting STA instructs the receiving STA to report hidden nodes. Worfolk, Kiwi Networks

6 Beacon Report (7.3.2.20.1) Parent TSF description currently reads:
July 2003 Beacon Report ( ) Parent TSF description currently reads: Parent TSF contains the lower 4 bytes of the serving AP’s TSF value at the time the measuring STA received the beacon or probe response frame. To fix for an IBSS, modify to: Parent TSF contains the lower 4 bytes of the measuring STA’s TSF value at the time the measuring STA received the beacon or probe response frame. Worfolk, Kiwi Networks

7 July 2003 Hidden Node Report ( ) Hidden Station Address description currently reads: Hidden Station Address contains the 6-byte MAC address of the destination of the frame sent by the AP and received by the measuring STA without the detecting subsequent acknowledgement. To fix for an IBSS, modify to: Hidden Station Address contains the 6-byte MAC address of the destination of the frame received by the measuring STA without detecting the subsequent acknowledgement. Worfolk, Kiwi Networks

8 MLME Description of Periodic Measurements (11.7.6)
July 2003 MLME Description of Periodic Measurements (11.7.6) Current description: If desired, the AP may to issue periodic concurrent measurement requests to achieve near-continuous reporting. To fix for an IBSS, modify to: If desired, the requesting STA may issue periodic concurrent measurement requests to achieve near-continuous reporting. Worfolk, Kiwi Networks

9 Beacon Report Measurement Usage (11.7.7.1)
July 2003 Beacon Report Measurement Usage ( ) Current text: If requested on the serving channel, the measuring STA shall include a Radio Measurement (Beacon) Report element describing its serving AP. To fix for an IBSS, modify to: If requested on the serving channel, the measuring STA shall include a Radio Measurement (Beacon) Report element describing its BSS beacon. Worfolk, Kiwi Networks

10 Hidden Node Report (11.7.7.5) Current description:
July 2003 Hidden Node Report ( ) Current description: A measuring STA detects a potential hidden node when it receives a downlink frame to which it detects no acknowledgement. To extend to hidden stations in an IBSS, modify to: A measuring STA detects a potential hidden node when it receives a frame to which it detects no acknowledgement. Worfolk, Kiwi Networks

11 July 2003 Motion Instruct the editor to incorporate the changes described in / k into the TGk 0.4 draft. Moved_______________ Seconded_____________ Yes ____ No ____ Abstain ____ Worfolk, Kiwi Networks
