4 2018-2019 H&I Committee Goals (cont.)
•Complete the H&I Service Handbook •Train clerical worker to reply to “routine” requests sent to H&I by mail and to order books that are requested  •Have the Service Handbook and the H&I Service info page on the website translated into Spanish  •Get more members

5 Accomplishments Maintained the Books for Inmates and Institutions Program (details below) Continued to grow the Inmate Sponsorship Program: Every inmate who has requested a sponsor has received one. We do not know how many of these pairs (sponsor-sponsee) are currently active. Regular communication with the CoDA community: We receive and respond to about 9 queries from Fellowship groups or members each month. Using the H&I subscription list we have sent out a few announcements asking for help with sponsoring inmates in institutions. Recruitment of members: We started last October with 9 members; and lost one member due to work commitments

6 Accomplishments (cont.)
Maintained H&I P&P Manual: We recently approved the CORE literature ordering process. Which will be included in our Policy and Procedure manual. Continued to build our database through those responding to the H&I survey that is offered to all new subscribers: The offer to complete the H&I questionnaire upon subscribing to the H&I subscribers’ list continues to be available. Perhaps 25% of new subscribers who do complete it could use a response from us, but, due to overloaded schedules, only a fraction of them do. We will continue to offer this.

7 Additional accomplishments
Had 10 regular and three special meetings via teleconference. Helped meetings get started in at least 5 facilities. Worked with CoRe in developing the procedure for ordering books for the Books for Inmates and Institutions program created by having a new CoRe website. Considered ways to provide institutionalized CoDA members with new CoDA stories/material because they have little exposure to recovering co-dependents outside. We have been able to send copies of some Weekly Readings and Meetings in Print. Survey has not been sent because of the recent number of surveys sent to our members

8 Additional accomplishments (cont.)
We would like to find ways for them to get this material in their facilities through prison librarians but haven’t made any progress in that direction. We have discussed development of an H&I Presentation Package to guide members taking literature and meetings into Institutions. We depend on local members to conduct panels and assist in starting meetings in Institutions and make literature and information available to Centers and Institutions near their meetings.
