1 Before Bell Rings Grab two papers from side table 1 person from groups 1-7 log into a computer at your lab station Have your HW out for me to check

2 Plan for Today Entry Task. Boyle’s Law Lab.

3 ETD#39 A. Draw and explain what pressure is and measures?
B. The local atmospheric pressure is 692 mm Hg according to my barometer. What is the pressure in: Atms kPa psi

4 ETD#39 ANS A. Draw and explain what pressure is and measures?

5 ETD#39 ANS B. The local atmospheric pressure is 692 mm Hg according to my barometer. What is the pressure in: Atms kPa psi

6 Learning Targets I can describe the relationship between volume and pressure.

7 Notebook Check Checking entries 16-30 3 Points for each entry
1 for having the entry task number 1 for having the question written down 1 for having an answer written down Self grade, putting your score out of 3 at the top of each entry Also put the total out of 45 on the front page of your notebook. Due class after next

8 Direct vs. Inverse Relationships
Relationships between two variables can be direct or inverse. Direct relationship One goes up, the other goes up Represented by one variable divided by the other = constant (k) Inverse Relationship One goes up, the other goes down Represented by the variables multiplied together = constant (k)

9 Boyle’s Law experiment with Syringes

10 Follow the Directions They are very clear
Pressure Sensor($70) P sensor into CH1 ClickFileOpen Chemistry with Vernier  06 Boyle’s Law Hand Draw Graphs DON’T ADD .8 TO YOUR VOLUME Start Syringe at mL then Connect Creates a Closed System Do Not Open the Syringe Between Trials

11 Boyle’s Law Syringe Lab
1. Determine the relationship between P and V 2. Get the following data. 2. Determine the mathematical relationship for P vs.V Volume (in mL) Pressure ( in kPa) P/V= k P∙V = k 5.0 7.0 9.0 11.0 13.0 15.0 17.0 19.0 Boyle’s Law Lab: On Lab Sheet 1. Answer all question + show all calculations 2. Hand Draw Graph, Label, and 3. Explain what it shows.

12 Learning Targets I can describe the relationship between volume and pressure.

13 Homework Boyle’s Law Lab -- Due Class after next
Notebook Check – Due class after next.
