6 The Judge’s Requirements

7 The Judge’s Requirements

8

9 so that they are without excuse.
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made  even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.

10 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions…
…and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

11 Judgment’s Requirements

12 but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

13

14 MATTHEW 7 “Judge not, that you be not judged…  3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?

15 “5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

16

17 Luke 18 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortionists, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.1

18 Be merciful to me, a sinner…

19 for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled,
’14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

20

21 9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned.
James 5 9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned.  Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!

22 John MacArthur “No one can understand or appropriate salvation apart from recognizing that (s)he stands guilty and condemned before God, totally unable to bring her(him)self up to God’s standard of righteousness.”

23 God’s Standard of Righteousness
Knowledge Truth Guilt

24 God’s Standard of Righteousness (Cont’d)
Deeds Impartiality vs Partiality Motives

25 Knowledge 1Therefore you are inexcusable, O man,
Romans 2 1Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.

26 Truth 2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth
against those who practice such things.

27 Truth 3 And do you think this, O man,
you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

28 Truth God is true. 3 True, some of them [Jews] were unfaithful;
Romans 3 (NLT) 3 True, some of them [Jews] were unfaithful; but just because they were unfaithful, does that mean God will be unfaithful?  4 Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true.

29 Is there unrighteousness with God?
Truth Romans 9 14 What shall we say then?  Is there unrighteousness with God? [Is He unjust?] Certainly not!

30 Truth 15 For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy
on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.”

31 Man does not have all the facts
and his/her judgment is partial and prejudiced. God’s judgment takes in all the facts – the actual state of man, what he is – on that basis will God judge… John MacArthur

32 not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
Guilt 4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

33 Guilt 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart
you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

34 What Next? 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise,
2 Peter 3 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,  not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

35 now is the day of salvation.
2 Corinthians 6 2…Behold, now is  the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

36 9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned.
What Next? James 5 9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned.  Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!

37 What Next?

38 What Next? Rescue the perishing, care for the dying, Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave; Weep o’er the erring one, lift up the fallen, Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.

39 What Next? Rescue the perishing, duty demands it; Strength for your labour the Lord will provide; Back to the narrow way patiently win them; Tell the poor wanderer a Saviour has died.

40 What Next? Rescue the perishing, care for the dying, Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.

41

42 To Him who loves us and has freed us
Revelation 1:5b-6 To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood and made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
