1 MABE Department at UT Specialty Areas: 3D Printing Three Programs:
Automotive systems Robotics Fluids and heat Three Programs: Mechanical Aerospace Biomedical Engineering

2 Mechanical Engineering
ME is a very broad area, impacting almost every area of society. Generally involves energy conversion to power. MEs work on many systems including power plants, medical devices, engines, automobiles, ships, robotics, aircraft, control systems, manufacturing devices and processes, sensors, fuel cells, batteries, turbines, pumps, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems……etc.

3 Mechanical Engineering
ME design projects include EcoCar3, and projects with Denso, Boeing, Eastman, Clayton Homes, VolTank, Lexmark, EPRI, and others. MEs are hired nearly everywhere. Many MEs go to grad school, law school, or get MBAs.

4 Aerospace Engineering
AEs develop and design aircraft and spacecraft components and systems for government, military and commercial enterprises. AEs study propulsion, orbital mechanics, aerospace structures, vibrations, acoustics, and aero-materials. AEs work wherever things fly, from hummingbird drones, to hypersonic defense systems to the space station. Field Trip to Boeing Assembly Plant in S. Carolina.

5 Aerospace Engineering
Projects include design-build-fly for remote drone and rocket launch vehicles, or work with AEDC in Tullahoma. Employed by Boeing, Pratt and Whitney, USAF, Gulfstream, SpaceX, NASA, GM, etc. Many AEs also go to grad school, or get MBAs. Did you know? UTK (UTSI) has 10 astronaut alumni now, including 2 ISS commanders. UTK Program has alumni throughout industry.
