Firstly – let’s have a look at the new Equality page on the website. EPA Website Page At EPA we should follow the “No Outsiders” principle. It doesn’t matter what your background is, what your ethnicity is, which gender you are or what your sexual orientation is. We are all unique and we need to respect each others’ differences. Being unkind to each other for any of these reasons is not welcome in our community.

4 A word about “banter” …. Quite often the word “banter” is used to cover up and dismiss a variety of unacceptable behaviours such as: teasing, bullying, racism, homophobia and sexism. Just because someone laughs on the outside, does not mean they are happy on the inside. By using the word “banter” you are telling someone to accept something unkind and not make a fuss about it. You are suggesting they are too sensitive, when in fact it is you that needs to modify your behaviour. If comments are making you feel uncomfortable please talk to your Head of Year, they are there to listen.

5 Being kind Acts of kindness make people feel good, if you are a recipient of kindness, you are more likely to return an act of kindness to someone else. You may have seen this video before, but it is a good reminder as to why we should be kind. One Day
