5. The Sectors.
The travel and tourism industry is split into three sectors:
Public Sector – Non-commercial organisations who aim to provide education and services to people, for example Tourist Information.
Private Sector – Commercial organisations who aim to make a profit from their business, for example Alton Towers or Hilton Hotels
Voluntary Sector – Again non-commercial but they rely on sponsorships or membership for income, for example the National Trust or Youth Hostel Association (YHA).
