Your task is to illustrate the differences between public, private and voluntary organisations in the travel and tourism industries. You should consider including all of the following: Examples of each type of organisation Ownership and liability Aims and objectives Sources of funding.

5 The Sectors. The travel and tourism industry is split into three sectors: Public Sector – Non-commercial organisations who aim to provide education and services to people, for example Tourist Information. Private Sector – Commercial organisations who aim to make a profit from their business, for example Alton Towers or Hilton Hotels Voluntary Sector – Again non-commercial but they rely on sponsorships or membership for income, for example the National Trust or Youth Hostel Association (YHA).
