Operational since May 2012 at Savli – Gujarat : It will employ over 200 researchers when fully operational –current strength 63 people.Housed in a new and high-performance sustainable building Exceptional support from highest local Authorities (Gujarat Government).
Partnerships with University : Three fellowships for research in sustainable chemistry, nano technology and polymer science at the Maharaja Sayajirao University in Vadodara.
Goal : Attract and retain the best scientific and engineering talent to drive sustainable growth

Solvay has long history of successful JV’s in India with its strategic partner MP Birla group for guar gum and guar extracts

Solvay enjoys a 50-year joint venture partnership with an MP Birla group for guar gum and guar extracts. Derivatized guar is a polymer produced from a bean grown mainly in India
Solvay's technology makes it possible to use the guar gum, after processing in the Group's site in Vernon, Texas, for numerous purposes, including conditioners for shower gels and shampoos and additives for the extraction of gas and oil
India is the no. 1 producer of guar gum in the world. Since 2008, Solvay has worked with Hichem to develop cationic guar gum (conditioners for shampoos) locally in India.

Educational programs
Solvay India provides educational equipment to primary schools at Panoli, Grampanchayat. In 2018, the group donated musical instruments and fifteen employees of Solvay Panoli site participated to an event with the staff and student of the school.
