He did not come from a particularly musical background. Time to reflect: “ I find it strange and uncomfortable to aim for anything less that the greatest. If I was going to be a baker or I was going to be a fireman, why would I not aim to eventually be the greatest at my job?” What inspiration can we take from this quote? In 2018, Stormzy launched a scholarship to fully fund 2 black students to complete their degrees at Cambridge university. Stormzy says that of all his achievements, ‘this one in particular’ makes his mum proud. Why do you think he said that? Stormzy did really well at school, despite not always doing the right thing and quite often getting into trouble. He achieved 6 A*s and 3Bs in his GCSEs. He was also a bit of a bookworm. He used to collect badge from the library for every book he read over the summer. He challenged the lack of diversity at the Brit Awards. The UK music industry is worth £4.5 Billion. As a result, the Brit Awards addressed this and brought change. Stormzy performed a duet with Ed Sheeran. Religion plays a big role in his life. It is rare for religion to crop up heavily in the lyrics of a grime artist.
