2 Your task: Create your own, original oil painting that is inspired and based on a prominent, historical Art Movement.

3 What is an Art Movement? “An art movement is a tendency or style in art with a specific common philosophy or goal, followed by a group of artists during a restricted period of time, (usually a few months, years or decades).”

4 Identify the common style.
Your process: You will need to research your movement. Identify the common style. The physical characteristics of artwork made during this movement, and the techniques used to achieve this look.

5 Identify the common goal.
Your process: You will need to research your movement. Identify the common goal. The shared beliefs and goals of various artists surrounding the purpose of art, or the artistic process.

6 Your process: You will need to research your movement. Observe the Artwork. Research the most prominent artists of the movement, and take time to look at the physical characteristics of their work. Make connections between what you have researched and what you are seeing.

7 Develop ideas and sketches for your paintings.

8 After you’ve made your painting.
