Both pRIFLE and KDIGO classification systems stratify AKI into levels of severity, determined by changes in serum creatinine (SCr)/estimated creatinine clearance (eCCl) and changes in urine output. AKI severity strata can be reached through fulfilling criteria for either changes in SCr/eCCl or changes in urine output. AKI, acute kidney injury; pRIFLE, paediatric Risk or renal dysfunction, Injury to the kidney, Failure of kidney function, Loss of kidney function, and End-stage renal disease.
