3 In the UK the minimum wage for a person who is 25+ is £7.83.
This means that they must earn at least £7.83 an hour for the work that they do. Nearly 1/2 of the world's population live on less than £2 a day. 1.3 billion of those people live in extreme poverty: less than £1 a day. 1 billion children worldwide are living in poverty. According to UNICEF 22,000 children die each day due to poverty. Poverty in Scotland has increased. Approximately 180, 000 children (19%) live in poverty.
