5. PASTORAL VISIT IN AUSTRALIA
For many children, language barriers, a lack of documentation, and costly fees prevent from them attending Thai schools. In collaboration with our partners, the Jesuit Refugee Services, Caritas supports community-based learning centres which offer migrant children primary education and a bridge into Thailand’s school system.

7. Passing on traditional knowledge
The Purple House was established in 2004 by Western Desert Nganampa Walytja Palyantjaku Tjutaku Aboriginal Corporation to support First Australian patients who have been dislocated from country and culture. The program also gives participants an opportunity to pass on traditional knowledge and values, helping others retain their connections with home. “There are young people learning these things too. Child labour is a big issue in Fiji. Semiti, the Director of The People’s Community Network (PCN), who work hard to empower people living in informal settlements and to ensure children don’t have to work so the family can have food.. He says “we believe that, through education, people can then move up the ladder”.
