2. The Illusion of Affluence
We are materially wealthy.
The illusion is that material wealth is real and lasting.
It is not real (Revelation 3:17; Prov. 13:17)
It will not last (James 5:1-3)
It’s not what matters (Luke 12:13-15; Hebrews 13:5)
Our culture can deceive us into thinking that we are truly wealthy, independent, capable of being morally neutral, and that we will never see death. The word of God unmasks these dangerous illusions.

3. The Illusion of Independence
The illusion is that we are self-sufficient
The truth is that we are interdependent
(1 Corinthians 11:11-12; Romans 14:17)
Ultimately our sufficiency is from God
(Deuteronomy 8:17; 2 Corinthians 3:5)

4. The Illusion of Neutrality
We are led to believe that we can stay neutral on moral issues.
Not taking a stand is taking a stand!

5. The Illusion of Immortality
The illusion is that time is not catching up with us.
There is a relationship between the illusions of wealth, independence and immortality.
