1 Gel Ball Phenomena Evidence

2 Activity 1: Magnification Investigation pg. 13L
Claim: Living things have repeating patterns of shapes with dots inside. 13L Evidence: From the zoomed in pictures, both the plant and animal pictures had repeating boxy or round shapes, most with dots inside. The non-living samples did not have repeating shapes with dots.

3 Activity 2: What are cells? Pg. 15R
Claim:Living things have cells, and cells can be different shapes. Evidence: From the human body theater, plant cells look boxy or rectangular and animal cells look rounded with dots.

4 Activity 3: Plant vs. Animal pg. 18L
Claim: Plant and animal cells have a few different cell structures. Evidence: The model shows that the cell wall and chloroplast structures are in the plant cell only and centrioles and lysosomes are in the animal cell only. Reasoning: From the cell models, plant cells have chloroplasts to help the plants use the sun to make energy and cell walls to give them the structure they need. Animal cells have lysosomes to help them digest food for energy and centrioles to help them divide while plants use cell walls to help them divide.

5 Activity 4: Gel ball Research pg. 19R
Claim: I claim that the mystery gel ball is a ……… Evidence:

6 Activity 5: Crime Scene Investigation: What samples have DNA? Pg. 20L
Claim: I claim samples ………. should be DNA tested. Evidence:

7 : Cell Analogy Claim: Cells have different parts that help it function as a system. Evidence: From the cell diagram, a human cell has many structures and organelles inside the cell. For example, the cell membrane acts as a barrier, and the mitochondria provides energy for the cell.
