3 Scoping Exercise pockets of good practice dependent on subject discipline; a sense from some staff that “we already do all of this” a belief that students were being exposed to a multicultural range of theorists within some disciplines; sensitivities eg. concerns about causing offence; limited diversity of the current population potentially limiting cultural exposure in the classroom; opportunities for student mobility but some underutilisation

4 Post-scoping objectives
develop continuing professional development (CPD) activity for staff to enable the delivery of an inclusive pedagogy provide staff development opportunities that will foster the 4Cs: namely, Confidence; Capability; Competence; Capacity examine student mobility and employability pre- and post- graduation evaluate the student experience.

Case studies of good practice HEA resources to support the Equality standard at programme level (understanding, developing, enhancing, excelling). Mentor networks Next steps – roll out training, recruit mentors/champions, publish resources/case studies; use ILR/QR to map progress on EEDC/student mobility.

7 Attracting Diversity SFC objectives Outcome agreements
Work with ECR and programme leads barriers are often reinforced by the complex processes of social reproduction (Bourdieu 2010; Leese 2010) that ensure that many feel that higher education is “not for the likes of us”. Work on imagery/marketing/promotion materials
