Examples Heat from a fire, light from sun

10. Conduction
Conduction is the transfer of energy when molecules bump into each other.
Conduction works when energy transfers to something else when it is in direct contact
Example: Think of hot pavement warming your feet. Heat from the pavement moves into your feet through DIRECT contact.

12. Convection Convection is the transfer of energy by a liquid or gas.
Energy “catches a ride on it” and moves somewhere else.
Think of warm air rising to heat the upstairs of a house.
