3 Let’s learn a new kind of word!
Compound Words

4 WHY? WHY? WHY? Compound Words are everywhere!
You use compound words when you write! You see them when you read!

5 ladybug This is a Compound Word!
Put together 2 words to create a new word. lady bug = ladybug

6 Helpful Hint + = lady + bug = ladybug
If you can draw a picture for each word, then it’s a great compound word. + = lady bug = ladybug

7 More Compound Words: Sun + shine  sunshine Sun + rise  sunrise
Cow + girl  cowgirl Cow + boy  cowboy

8 Using 3 words, create two compound words:
