New dialysis starts in the United States by year in patients with and without diagnosis of diabetes. The percent of the new starts with eGFR >10 ml/min per 1.73 m2 in diabetics and nondiabetics increased from 25% to 55% and from 16% to 48%, respectively. The percent of the incident population with eGFR >15 ml/min per 1.73 m2 rose from 6% to 20% and from 4% to 17% in diabetics and nondiabetics, respectively.
