2 Work Readiness Program (WRP)
The WRP consists of three modules All three modules must be completed by all Year 10 students prior to any work experience placements.

3 Work Readiness communication requirements employer expectations
To be work ready a student must have: participated in the work readiness program completed to a competent standard the attached worksheets to ensure students are familiar with - communication requirements employer expectations workplace rights and responsibilities attended class on a regular basis completed the relevant WH&S module specific to the framework developed a satisfactory practical skill base for the framework

4 The three modules of the WRP are:
Module 1 – Qualities that Count Module 2 – Talk the Talk Module 3 – The Three R’s

5 What is Work Placement? Work Experience lets you learn specific skills or competencies on the job in a specific industry area. Work Placement is mandatory for a range of vocational education and training (VET) courses to achieve the Higher School Certificate (HSC).

6 What’s the Difference? Work Placement Work Experience
A planned and mandatory part of HSC VET courses Gives a general taste of the world of work Involves participation in the industry relevant to the VET subject you are studying Usually undertaken in Year 10 Lets you practise & develop the skills you have learnt at school Involves observing & carrying out tasks nominated by your supervisor Lets you learn specific skills or competencies on the job agreed to by the employer & the school Lets you experience working life Helps you find out more about employment and training opportunities in the industry Helps you learn about what employers expect, what responsibilities people have in the workplace Contributes to the HSC Helps you learn about skills that are valued in the workplace

7 Mandatory Procedures There are mandatory procedures in place to ensure student and employer safety and safe work practices are being followed whilst on work experience or work placement.
