5 Step 2: CD/CM Chart Smith 1 Sally Smith Mrs. Chambers Reading 8 October 2015 Create a three-entry CD/CM chart for each source in Google Docs. Open a new document in your Google Drive account. Type your heading (your name, teacher name, class name, date – in that order). Type your Research Question under the heading. Insert three tables, each with two columns and three rows.

6 CD/CM Chart Your sources should be used in the CD/CM chart in the same order that the sources are listed on your Works Cited page – similar to an annotated bibliography.

7 CD/CM Chart- Selecting your evidence…
When choosing your concrete details (or evidence), remember to select only portions of the articles that directly answer your research question. Remember to also paraphrase your evidence before typing it into your chart. Put it in your own words! If it doesn’t seem possible to paraphrase, it is okay to directly quote up to two (2) concrete details. No more than that!

8 Making a Note Card Source Number- <--- Period AFTER parentheses
Select the part of the text you want to use as a concrete detail. Summarize and/or paraphrase it- put it into your own words. Write it out on the note card. Label the note card according to the source you’re using- 1, 2, or 3. Cite the source by writing the FIRST WORD from the Works Cited page in parentheses after your citation. Put your period at the end of the parentheses! Source Number- <--- Period AFTER parentheses Author’s last name OR first word of citation
