5. What an amazing sight met their eyes!
They were looking down on a lovely valley. There were green meadows on either side and there was a great brown river flowing past.
There was a tremendous waterfall halfway along the river — a steep cliff where the water crashed down into a boiling churning whirlpool of spray.
Below the waterfall, enormous glass pipes were dangling down into the river from up high! They really were enormous. There must have been a dozen of them, and they were sucking up the brown muddy water from the river. You could see the water flowing and bubbling along inside them, and you could hear the suck-suck-sucking sound of the pipes as they did their work.
