2 Which One Doesn’t Belong?
A B C D Look at each of the four pictures above. Determine which one you think does not belong. Each person at your table must share an idea with the rest of the table. Please take turns being active speakers and listeners. Use the sentence frame: “I believe FIGURE _______ doesn’t belong with the other three because _________________________________________________________.

3 “RIGID” Transformation:
To make a change in a figure in size, shape, or orientation. “RIGID” Transformation: A translation, a rotation, a reflection, or combination of the sequences of any of the three. Although, they change position, they maintain both size and shape, so the figures are congruent.

5 1.  Can you translate the figures on the blue line to the green line? What would this look like? What is needed to perform any translation?

6 1.  Can you rotate the figures on the blue line to the green line? What would this look like? What is needed to perform any rotation?

7 1.  Can you reflect the figures on the blue line to the green line? What would this look like? What is needed to perform any reflection?

9 2.  Can you translate the figures on the blue line to the green line? What would this look like? Describe the change.

10 2.  Can you rotate the figures on the blue line to the green line? What would this look like? Describe the change.

11 y 2. x  Can you reflect the figures on the blue line to the green line? What would this look like? Describe the change.

12 Page 72 Directions: Using a sheet of tracing paper, trace line a, line b, and point K.

13 Page 73 Directions: 1. Translate lines a and b units up and 2 units to the right. What do you notice about the changes that occur to the lines after the translation? What is the same in the original and in the image?

14 Page 73 Directions: 2. Rotate lines a and b counterclockwise degrees using K as the center of rotation. What do you notice about the changes that occur to the lines after the rotation? What is the same in the original and in the image?

15 Page 73 Directions: 3. Reflect lines a and b across line h.
What do you notice about the changes that occur to the lines after the reflection? What is the same in the original and in the image?

16 Page 72 Not seeing it angled? Try rotating your book so that line h appears vertically. Directions: 3. Reflect lines a and b across line h. What do you notice about the changes that occur to the lines after the reflection? What is the same in the original and in the image?

Place pencils on Point D as the center of rotation. Rotate 180 degrees. Label your new A’, B’, and C’
