It does this with advanced composite material manufacturing processes and a material agnostic structural health monitoring system, known as CHASM for enhanced reliability. Start-up is adopting CERN technology to improve the safety, reliability and availability of autonomous vehicles
ARTEMIS ANALYTICS IS A MASS SPECTROMETRY SPIN-OUT FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER. Our core technologies were developed by University researchers whilst working at CERN, where they have been used to detect isotopes that are otherwise only produced in supernovae explosions. In addition to our work on trace isotope detection, we are drawing on our understanding of quantum technology and laser techniques to develop a carbon dating analysis service with the potential to revolutionise this particular field.
Fossil Ion Technology have developed a breath analysis system (Super Sesi) that detects in the exhaled air more than two thousand different chemical species, coming from the own metabolism as well as from the lungs, the respiratory tract and the mouth bacteria metabolism, among others. After analyzing the samples, indicatory molecules are identified as coming from concrete pathologies, assisting the diagnosis of diseases with this non-invasive method. Thanks to the use of powerful computing algorithms from CERN, to whom this company has gained access through the INEUSTAR-Promálaga collaboration (INEUSTAR-Pioneers program), Fossil Ion Technology will be able to develop a data processing tool aiming at putting together all the collected data and the obtained conclusions after breath analysis tests
Picotech develops modules that improve the accuracy of Positron Emission Tomography (PET). has a new innovative device for detecting the light photons: the "SiPM Strip", protected by a CERN patent. These modules allow earlier diagnosis of cancers, especially prostate cancer. Securaxis has developed a real-time high-energy event detection sensor to identify and characterize sounds. It is designed to be integrated into the environment where video camera installations are not suitable for technical or privacy reasons. Their device will help authorities (police, traffic authorities, fire departments) overcome daily challenges by providing early awareness signals in the case of explosions or extreme energy events, such as fires or collisions, thus keeping them informed of an ongoing situation in real time and reducing the number of false alarms.
