7. Participation Fees Grades 7 and 8=$75
Grade 9-12 = $125, ($188 for hockey)
Family max=$500/$275 fine arts ( if unsure, call the office)
Please communicate in a timely manner if financial hardship prevents the payment of fees

8. Registration is online-guide sheet is in commons
Needs to be taken care of before student begins participating.
Coaches can view on their device.
Complete by the Thursday before you begin practice.
Do not wait until the first day of practice
If you do not have a current physical it will not allow you to register.

9. New to Crookston Public Schools?
You will need to contact the office to get your account set up in Affinety

10. Eligibility: Attendance
Must be in school all day to practice or play in game
If you arrive late because you had a stomach ache you will not practice/play.
Tardy: 15 minutes or more= absent=no participation
Excused/unexcused absences defined in handbook.
Medical appts need to be preapproved.

11. Eligibility-Academic-mid qtr
Mid quarter grades:
1 or more incompletes=ineligible until passing
1 or more F’s = ineligible for 2 weeks
Begins Monday after progress reports are due.
Must get signed off (form is in office)

12. Eligibility- Academic-Quarter
Quarter grades
Incomplete = ineligible until passing
1 or more F’s= ineligible for 2 weeks(begins week of 1st contest, not practice)
End of school year-covered in handbook
Sign off sheet needed in all cases

13. MSHSL Bylaws for Category I Activities

Suspensions for bylaw offenses:
1st offense: 2 games/2 weeks, 14 days, whichever is greater
2nd offense: 6 games/3 weeks, 21 days, whichever is greater
3rd offense: 12 games/4 weeks, 28 days, whichever is greater
You must practice & finish the season for the violation to count
Once you sign the paperwork – the commitment is year-round, in and out of the country, summer, etc.–you are bound to the rules
If ineligible – do not suit up for the game

14. PART 2. MSHSL Bylaws 2 Categories of Activities
Category I – all MSHSL Athletics and Speech,
Category II – All extra curricular activities, excluding athletics and speech
A student who participates in both Category I and II activities shall serve the penalty prescribed for that violation in both Catergory I and Category II activities in which the student participates.

15. DENIAL DISQUALIFICATION - MSHSL
A student shall be disqualified for an additional 9 weeks beyond the student’s original period of ineligibility when the student denies violation of the rule, is allowed to participate, and is subsequently found guilty of the violation.

16. Ineligible participant and travel
Students that are ineligible for any reason may not travel with the team or sit on the bench at away games until the penalty has been served.
Students that are ineligible for any reason may attend home games and sit on the bench but they may not dress in game uniforms until the penalty has been served.

17. Lettering Requirements from each coach/sport
Student handbook: MSHSL 202 (assault), 205(chemical),209(hazing/harassment)viol -ations prevent student from lettering during the season in which they serve the penalty

18. Post season awards
Any student who is proven to be in violation of MSHSL By Laws 202, 205, or 209 during the season is not eligible for lettering or any other post season awards for the season in which they began serving the penalty. Any seniors who have had a violation during their 9th-12th grade years are not eligible to receive Senior awards such as athlete of the year, 3 sport for 4 years, etc.

19. Vaping
Students may not use or consume, have in possession, buy, sell, or give away products containing or products used to deliver nicotine, tobacco products or other chemicals.

25. COMMUNICATION PROCESS
4-Step Process:
Step 1 – Athlete/participant meets with Coach/Director
Step 2 - Parent/athlete meet with Coach/Director( allow 24 hours)
Step 3 – Request a meeting with the AD
Coach, AD, Parent, and Athlete will meet to discuss the issue
Step 4 – Request meet with the Principal – Coach, AD, Parent, Athlete, Principal
Keys:
Contact the coach to set up a meeting – don’t approach before or after a game- 24 hour rule...give it 24 hours
Student must be present – parents and student need to be on the same page
You are entitled to your opinion – we just ask that you don’t negatively affect the opinion of others
There is a difference between making decisions and mistreatment

28. Travel to practices Transportation for off-campus practices:
Many of our teams (golf, baseball, swimming, track, hockey, basketball, tennis, volleyball, softball, and baseball) may practice off-campus.
It is the responsibility of the individual athlete and not Crookston Public Schools to make arrangements for transportation to these practices.
When a student transports himself/herself to or from a practice, the parents/guardians of that student shall assume all resulting liability, and the school assumes no liability.
Please talk to your athlete if you have any concerns about how they are getting to practice.

29. Transportation from game
Request to travel with parent from game. (Travel Permission)
Light green sheet, need 1 day prior so coach can get bus manifest done.
