Accelerated metastasis spread in tumor-bearing mice treated with paclitaxel and anakinra. A, LLC and (B) 4T1 tumor–bearing mice (n = 7 mice/group) were treated with paclitaxel, anakinra, or paclitaxel+anakinra as described in Materials and Methods. Tumors were measured regularly using Vernier calipers, and tumor volume was calculated. Tumor growth curves were not statistically different (C and D). At endpoint, lungs were removed for the evaluation and quantification of metastatic lesions in lung sections using H&E staining. Graphs are presented (A and B, relatively to C and D).
