Two main categories of software
System - programs that control the operations of a computer
Applications - programs designed to perform a specific task for a user

A network is a collection of computers and devices connected together via communications media
Networks require a communication device to connect computers and various devices together to send and receive data, instructions, and information
Networks communications occurs over cables, telephone lines, cellular radio networks, satellites, and other transmission media

The Internet is a worldwide collection of networks that connects millions of businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and individuals
