3 HR Review Process HR compares the old position description to the new position description for changes HR reviews for changes in duties and responsibilities Increase in volume of work is not considered Title change is not a predictor of the need for a new comparison HR compares the duties and responsibilities to CUPA comparators

CUPA comparator group is Peer Group of 61 Once a match is found, HR calculates the Hiring Range The Hiring Range is compared against the salary of the current incumbent in the position Ex. Administrative Specialist/Coordinator CUPA Average = $50,870 85% of Average = $43,240 75th Percentile = $56,636 Hiring Range : $43,240 - $56,636

5 HR Review Process (cont.)
HR looks at the salary of the individual who is currently in the position to verify if the individual is currently being paid within the hiring range. If the answer is yes and there is no change in CUPA comparison, then HR does not recommend an increase If there is a change in CUPA comparison and the individual is not within the hiring range, then HR recommends the individual be brought up to the minimum of the new hiring range.

6 Next Steps The supervisor generates a Personnel Action Form with the changes Promotions are put on the Board agenda as an informational item
