(transition to next slide)

3 Introduction to LCIF Maybe you know a lot about LCIF, or maybe this is the first time you’ve served as a leader for LCIF. Regardless of your experience, let’s start with an introduction to our Foundation!

4 What is LCIF? Our Foundation!
The charitable arm of LCI Our Foundation! A grant making not-for-profit organization What is LCIF? When you think of LCIF, what comes to mind? (pause) LCIF is the charitable arm of LCI. LCIF is a not-for-profit organization, that raises funds to distribute to Lions to conduct large-scale projects they wouldn’t be able to carry out on their own. But, the most important thing to know about LCIF is that LCIF is Our Foundation! LCIF was established by Lions, to serve Lions, so that Lions may serve the world. (transition to next slide)

5 What does LCIF do? LCIF supports the efforts of Lions clubs and partners in serving communities locally and globally, giving hope and impacting lives through humanitarian service projects and grants. Through grants, LCIF enables Lions to carry out major service projects in all of our global cause areas LCIF’s mission is to support the efforts of Lions clubs and partners in serving communities locally and globally, giving hope and impacting lives through humanitarian service projects and grants. Our grants enable Lions clubs and districts to take on projects they could not otherwise carry out on their own. Grants can take many forms. For example, districts can apply for a grant to implement LCIF programs such as Lions Quest and Sight for Kids. LCIF also awards funds for Lions to partner with organizations to carry out particularly large or multi-regional projects. Examples include our partnership with Special Olympics, to provide vision screenings at Special Olympics events, and with GAVI, to provide millions of measles vaccinations to children. Those are just a few examples of some of the better-known LCIF programs made possible through grants. LCIF also supports Lions by awarding grants for disaster relief, diabetes prevention, Leo service, and so many other kinds of projects! Grants aren’t the only thing that LCIF does, however… (transition to next slide) Vision Youth Disaster Relief Humanitarian Efforts Childhood Cancer Diabetes Hunger Environment

6 What does LCIF do? LCIF joins all Lions together through their generosity! When you donate to LCIF, you make Lion service possible We Serve When we serve, we impact local community When we give to LCIF, we make more service possible for our fellow Lions Giving allows us to expand our own impact Service is both donating and doing LCIF joins all Lions together through their generosity! Donating to LCIF makes Lion service possible and helps Lions to serve their communities. When you give to LCIF, you join fellow Lions in their service. (transition to next slide)

7 How has LCIF helped the world?
LCIF has awarded more than US$1 billion in grants! More than US$1 billion granted US$118 million granted towards disaster relief 16 million children and youth served by Lions Quest Through two successful campaigns, invested US$415 million in SightFirst Provided measles vaccinations for more than 87 million children Improved or restored sight to 30 million people Thanks to the selfless sacrifice and dedication of thousands of Lions, LCIF has been able to grant more than US$1 billion to Lions service projects and partnerships around the world. The generosity of the Lions community has allowed LCIF to give sight, to support youth, to provide disaster relief, and to address a wide range of humanitarian needs. LCIF is your foundation. It belongs to every Lion, and empowers the service and impact of Lions everywhere. The success of LCIF really is the success of our global community of Lions. (transition to next slide)

8 A Local and Global Impact
ANZI Supporting genome sequencing for childhood cancer in Australia CANADA Providing disaster relief efforts for fire in Alberta The Foundation’s impact can be seen on both a local and global scale. Let’s look at a few of the many stories that illustrate LCIF’s impact in each of our constitutional areas. In May of 2016, a wildfire began in the Canadian province of Alberta. This wildfire became the largest evacuation and costliest disaster in the history of Canada- approximately 2000 residents were displaced. LCIF approved a US$100,000 grant to allow the Canadian Lions to provide much-needed assistance to their community. In Australia, the word “cancer” becomes a part of everyday life for the families of almost 800 children every year. To increase their likelihood of survival, LCIF committed US$2 million for genome sequencing, allowing a medical research center to sequence the unique genomes of 400 kids with aggressive forms of cancer. The goal of this project is to provide doctors the ability to create customized treatment plans for their patients based on the information found from their genes. (transition to next slide)

9 A Local and Global Impact
UNITED STATES Supporting diabetes prevention programming in Elmhurst, Illinois INDIA Providing educational opportunities for the disabled in India EUROPE Providing major catastrophe support in Italy following an earthquake A Lion in Illinois, USA, had an idea for her fellow Lions to give back to their community. Her son had been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes, so she suggested to her club that they support diabetes prevention. Supported by a grant of more than US$95,000 from LCIF, her district and the local healthcare system teamed up to develop a diabetes prevention and lifestyle intervention program. Now, with the hands-on work of local Lions, the new program identifies underserved individuals who may have prediabetes and helps connect them to the resources they need to stay healthy. In August of 2016, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck central Italy. Entire towns were demolished and nearly 300 people lost their lives. LCIF immediately awarded a US$100,000 grant to help with both immediate and long-term needs, enabling Lions to work together to get essential relief supplies to victims in the affected communities. People with disabilities face many challenges and have limited opportunities in many parts of the world. Lions in a district in India secured a US$63,000 grant from LCIF to expand their council’s vocational training center to help people with disabilities receive the training they need to find work. Thanks to the support of LCIF and these Lions, disabled members of the community have access to greater employment opportunities – and stability for themselves and their families. 10 A Local and Global Impact
OSEAL Initiating SightFirst China Action to build comprehensive and sustainable eye care systems Onchocerciasis, also known as river blindness, is a parasitic disease that can cause eye damage and irreversible blindness. Since 1993, LCIF has awarded more than US$33 million to support the distribution of river blindness medicine to more than 250 million people in Africa and Latin America, working towards elimination of this preventable and curable disease. Blindness caused by cataracts is a major problem in China. To address this great need, LCIF and select partners have implemented SightFirst China Action. This long-term program has taken place in three phases: the first two phases focused on conducting cataract surgeries and establishing eye care units in rural and underdeveloped areas. The third phase will help expand low vision services and launch a trachoma program. In total, LCIF has awarded more than US$30 million, conducting over 5 million cataract surgeries and serving hundreds of communities to date. Together with the Lions of China and our partners, LCIF is helping to create access to eye care systems for those who need it most. (transition to next slide) South America/Africa Working to eliminate river blindness in 15 countries

11 Why do Lions give to LCIF?
LCIF is our Foundation! LCIF exists to make Lion service possible LCIF is the only global foundation exclusively serving Lions 100% of your donations go to grants and programs 100% of your donations directly impact the communities Lions serve Lions are the biggest contributors to LCIF – you may be one of them. After hearing those stories, you probably know the answer to this question – but other Lions may ask, why do those Lions give to LCIF? Because LCIF is our Foundation! LCIF’s goal is to help Lions serve. It is the only foundation exclusively serving Lions-led projects. When you give to LCIF, you give to Lion service in your own community and all over the world. (transition to next slide)

12 Introduction to Campaign 100
Now, let’s talk about our new campaign!

13 What is Campaign 100: LCIF Empowering Service?
Campaign 100: LCIF Empowering Service is the foundation’s next transformational campaign. Through Campaign 100, we will raise US$300 million to: Increase Our Service Impact Fight Diabetes Expand Our Global Causes Campaign 100: LCIF Empowering Service is the foundation’s current transformational campaign. Through Campaign 100, we will raise US$300 million to increase our service impact; fight diabetes; and expand our global causes. Campaign 100 will allow us to serve hundreds of millions of people every year and ensure that Lions have the resources we need to expand our global causes and have a greater impact. There are many needs facing our world today. To others, the challenges may seem too great to overcome – but not to Lions. Lions see the needs of the world and respond, “We Serve.” Through Campaign 100: We will increase our service impact by: Expanding our current programs Focusing on vision, youth, disaster relief, and humanitarian causes We will fight diabetes by: Reducing the prevalence of diabetes Improving the quality of life for those diagnosed We will expand our global causes by: Identifying the areas of greatest need and opportunity within our new global causes - hunger, childhood cancer, and the environment We’ll conduct pilot projects We’ll develop sustainable, long-term programs We know our goals are ambitious. No individual Lion, club, or district can take them on alone. But together, empowered by our global foundation, we can. (transition to next slide)

14 What is Campaign 100? 100 years of service 100% participation
US$100 each year The title of our campaign is Campaign 100: LCIF Empowering Service. You might be wondering, what does that title mean? One hundred years ago, it began with Melvin Jones. He had a vision, and Lions are still working toward that vision today. Serving the most vulnerable among us. This is not something that any one Lion, club or district can do alone. But together, we can. As Lions reflect with pride on the accomplishments of our first 100 years, we also look to the future. We see that the needs of the world have never been greater. We see new challenges ahead. So, what if 100% of Lions contributed to this global effort? What could your US$100 annual gift – just $2 each week – do? There’s nothing more important to Lions than service. It’s what we do. But, we don’t do it alone. Lions are empowered by LCIF. Because of LCIF, Lions have the resources we need to take on the issues we care about. Because we understand that service is both giving and doing, our impact will last for the next 100 years, and beyond. For all the reasons we serve, we give. (transition to next slide)

15 What Can US$100 Do? Vision 2 cataract surgeries
Hunger Regular access to food for 14 in-need people Youth Lions Quest curriculum to an entire classroom for 1 year What Can US$100 Do? Diabetes Screenings for 18 at-risk people Childhood Cancer Help buy equipment to diagnose/treat 8 kids As we just noted, we are asking all Lions to consider making a gift of US$100 each year of the campaign. US$100 is about US$8 each month, or, US$2 each week. That may not seem like very much, but look at all of the things US$100 can provide through LCIF: cataract surgeries, the Lions Quest curriculum, diabetes screenings, measles vaccinations, disaster relief, access to clean water, childhood cancer diagnosis equipment, access to food…and these are just a few examples! Imagine how much more we could accomplish if everyone could contribute US$2 each week –or more! (transition to next slide) Environment Access to clean water for 14 people Humanitarian Efforts Measles vaccination for 100 children Disaster Relief Immediate relief for 4 victims of a natural disaster

16 How Lions Can Participate
Lions can participate in the campaign and support the foundation in three key ways: Donate Advocate Volunteer So, the Lions of your club will probably ask you – how can we participate? Lions can participate in the campaign and support the foundation in three key ways: They can donate: Lions are our biggest supporters and provide the vast majority of contributions – but there are many more who have yet to give. Through their donations, Lions can sustain the foundation and make our work – Lion service – possible. They can advocate: Lions are better than anyone at telling our story and sharing the impact of our work. The more Lions share their stories, the more we spread our message, and the more participation we’ll have! They can volunteer: Lions lead and carry out the projects that the foundation supports. Lion service allows us to achieve the goals of LCIF – by volunteering, they carry out the service LCIF seeks to make possible! (transition to next slide)
