WIND ANGELS Melani Ortiz & Yesenia Perez KIDWIND The Engineering Design Process

2

3 The problems and challenges
The challenge is try to help our planet and environment from pollution. Since our planet has to much pollution wind turbines are an easy way to help reduce this. The problems and challenges

4 The constraints with turbines are that they are expensive and hard to build. Another constraint would include actual wind because if you don’t have wind the turbine would not make any energy. Constraints

5 Research We did some research on how pollution affects us and our environment. Our goal for our research was to develop a turbine with non expensive or recycled materials. That spins/rotates fast in order to make energy.

6 Brainstorm Ideas

7 Provide some examples of the blade and tower your team was looking into.

Provide some information on the performance of your design (Ex. Number of washers your design was able to lift.) Test Your Plan

13 *Repeat Steps 1-5 to Make Changes
Provide some pictures of prior designs and improvements on those designs. *Repeat Steps 1-5 to Make Changes

14 REFLECTION #1 UPLOAD VIDEO
How did your team’s first blade design work? Was your team successful in building your base/stance? Why? What are some of your team’s improvements for your second design?

15 REFLECTION #2 UPLOAD VIDEO
How did your team’s second blade design work? What is your team’s ideas for blade materials to use for your third blade design? Why is your teaming using this particular design for your base/stance?

16 the gear ratio is 32 :1 the top is 64 to 16 and the bottom is 64 to 8 or 4:1, 8:14. 4 times 8 is 32 so it’s a 32:1 gear ratio our pitch angle is about 15 we tried many angles including 30 ,25 even 5 but we figured that 15 was a really good angle. direct current is like a flash light it goes directly where u point it alternating current flickers and also moves up and down. this is our nesel is the that holds and keeps everything together. all generator are ac current Reasonings
