1. New Moon Side of moon facing earth is not illuminated
Up through the day Down through the night

2. Waxing Crescent Moon begins to show.. But not for long
See a little bit more of the lunar sliver each night Stays up a little later each night

3. First Quarter ½ of the moon is visible for first ½ of the evening

Lunar Eclipse Moon receives its light from the sun but when it goes into Earth shadow…. no light can reach the moon However, the air around earth “bends” the sunlight causing some light to get to the moon making it look dull red. Can last for 3 to 4 hours Aligned as Sun Earth Moon

Solar Eclipse Moon moves in between sun and earth
Blocks out the sun ‘s light causing daylight to look like night time. Very short period of time (few minutes) Aligned as Sun Moon Earth
