5 My Interview with Mr. Franklin
Ms.Coyle- “Mr. Benjamin Franklin, as an experienced inventor, what do you think students today would need to invent useful things and ideas like you? Benjamin Franklin- “I believe that students who are dedicated and honest with themselves will go very far in their endeavors.” Ms.Coyle- “I have read that you have never patented any of your inventions, do you regret this decision because you may not have gotten credit where it was due? Do you think students should be this trusting with their ideas?” Benjamin Franklin- “As we enjoy great advantages from the inventions of others, we should be glad of an opportunity to serve others by any invention of ours; and this we should do freely and generously. Students should share their knowledge with their classmates, not keep it to themselves. ” Ms.Coyle- “I read the account of how you worked with your cousin Timothy Folger to think of new ways for ships to travel the gulf stream and deliver letters more quickly. Do you think that is a faster and better way for students to communicate than traditional mail?” Benjamin Franklin- “I think that the internet and is a wonderful invention. It is always a good idea to be current and not using historical technology.”
