6 Quiz Review: Types of Articles
News Article: A news story that uses facts to show the five W’s, an attention-getting title, and is written to present the most important information first. Editorial: An opinion piece written by the editors that comments about an important issue that readers or a newspaper would care about. Feature: A detailed piece of writing (sometimes written by guest writer) which explore a range of issues, opinions, experiences and ideas; should appeal to the particular audience it’s targeting.

Can be checked or proven Example: “Last Saturday was a rainy night.” A careful journalist… Will only states facts that he/she can prove to be true OTHERWISE, he/she will cite the source of any uncertain information (“According to…”

Can be questioned/argued against Differ depending on perspective Example: “Rainy days are depressing.” Small Note on Bias & Perspective: A person’s perspective creates their bias, which is best witnessed through looking at word choice.

Commas are the hardest type of punctuation mark to study. Twenty percent of the punctuation marks in an average book will be commas. On Tuesday, the 7th of October, the talented English teacher presented the punctuation rules to the committee
