2 What does the User Focused Monitoring (UFM) project do?
Pregnancy and mental health Pregnancy and mental health UFM is based at The Advocacy Project and is independent from health and social services. UFM has 4 essential aims: To listen to what service users have to say especially those who don’t usually speak up. To make sure that service users can make a difference to mental health services. To make sure that service users keep checking mental health services. To recommend positive changes to improve service quality, based on the views and experiences of service users. We find out what people think about whether the service is working and what could be better. We feed this information back to decision makers to improve the service. If you are thinking of having a baby, are pregnant or have just had a baby, good support for mental wellbeing is important. UFM would like to hear about your experiences of using mental health support services during or after pregnancy. Have you used mental health services during or after pregnancy? We are looking for people who have used (or are using) mental health/ wellbeing services in the community, through their GP practice or the hospital. Such as; Any kind of therapy or counselling IAPT - Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Advice or changes to medication or other treatments during/after pregnancy Mindfulness, Stress or Support groups of any kind Mental health professionals in the community or at the hospital How will it work? Give us your contact details via or phone and we will arrange a time and place that suits you to be interviewed. Interviews last about minutes and are done by two women interviewers at a place where you feel most comfortable – at your home, at our offices or in a quiet café. All UFM interviewers have used mental health services and will be non judgmental in taking your feedback. What you get in return? An opportunity to give us your opinions confidentially, feeding back what works and what could be better. A chance to influence change to improve mental health services. A £10 contribution for your time. A copy of the report, if you would like one.
